IN LOVING MEMORY OF A BASS LEGEND

John Bulpitt
Rest in Peace
John Bulpitt’s freshwater fishing journey began at a tender age. In 1969, when he was just 12 years old, he clinched a trophy for catching the best Bream of the year. As a member of the Rhodesia Angling Society, he immersed himself in the world of fishing.
In 1975, John acquired his first Bass boat and dove headfirst into competitive fishing. He participated in Rhodesian Bass tournaments as part of the Thornhill Bass Team.
Notably, in 1980, he and his fishing partner secured fifth place in the 7th CALTEX INYANKUNI INTERNATIONAL BASS TOURNAMENT.
John’s talent extended beyond local waters. In 1983, he qualified for the inaugural South African BassMaster team, representing his country in international fishing competitions in the USA, specifically Florida. Remarkably, he repeated this achievement in 1984 and 1985, making it three consecutive years.
However, the pinnacle of his angling career arrived in 1990. For the seventh consecutive year, John qualified for the South African Team to compete in the USA, once again in Florida. Notably, he became the first South African to qualify for the USA National Bass Federation Championship World semi-finals held in Virginia at Smith Mountain Lake in April 1991.
John’s passion for fishing led him to establish Bassin Buddies Distributors, a testament to his unwavering commitment to the sport. His expertise and angling techniques have made him a respected figure among fellow anglers, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Whether casting lines or sharing knowledge, John Bulpitt remains a fisherman for life.
